My wife and I moved into the Tampa area six months ago. If there's one thing that's difficult to find, it is a trust worthy auto mechanic. I recently took my truck in to be serviced and was told the front brakes (discs, calipers, etc.) needed to be replaced. I agreed and the work was done. Fast forward to today and my wife took her vehicle in and was told her brakes also needed replacing. I take no exception as they are/were the original stock brakes when the vehicle was purchased. What I DO take exception with is the premium we were quoted on the materials. I had a bad feeling about the cost of work charged on my truck. I felt it was extremely high. I was vindicated when my wife reached out to get another quote on her brakes: $350 v $650 quoted by Brazzeal!!!! $300 MORE than another local shop. I can't help but wonder how much I could have saved had I gone to another shop. Needless to say, we will not be returning to Brazzeal's as repeat customers. UPDATE: While my truck was with Brazzeal's, I had them investigate the steering wheel "play/drift" issue I was dealing with when the car was in motion. I figured it was an alignment issue. Brazzeal's told me that the gear box needed to be replaced and an alignment done. It was an additional $800 to perform that service. As I was already sticker shocked by the brake work mentioned above (which I now question was even necessary and at the very least was charged a HEAVY premium), I opted to forgo this work. Fast forward to today, I received a call from my new mechanic and was told that the gear box was absolutely fine and an alignment solved the steering wheel "play/drift" -- $85!!! STAY AWAY FROM THESE CROOKS!!!
